Need for this Expansion-

Current Status of the Expansion-
The current status of the expansion is currently in the pre-development stages, the news article from Hindustan Times states “Consultants will soon submit the detailed project report for Lines 2, 3, and 4, which will connect to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The total cost of constructing all four lines is estimated to be over ₹11,000 crore. CIDCO is also studying the feasibility of extending the Mumbai Metro Rail Line to the airport.”
We can expect a Detailed-Project Review(DPR) document in the time frame of two to three months officially from CIDCO.

Route-
Route of Metro Line 1 starts from Belapur Terminal, covering a total of 11 stations in its journey(Belapur Terminal, RBI Colony, Belpada, Utsav Chowk, Kendriya Vihar, Kharghar Village, Central Park, PethPada, Amandoot, Taloja, Pendhar).
Similarly, we can expect a set of 10 stations on the expansion line joining Taloja, Kalamboli, and Khandeshwar with each other; These expected stations(from Pendhar): Taloja MIDC-1, Taloja MIDC-2, Kasadi, Kalamboli Sector-13, Kalamboli Sector-17, Kalamboli Sector-2E, Kamothe Sector-10, Khandeshwar Railway Station.
Taloje MIDC 1, and 2 will serve the industrial area of Taloja vicinity and will certainly help the workers in the MIDC area. Kasadi station will serve the local people of the Navde locality. Kalamboli internal metro station will be a total boost to the economy, and new residential and commercial projects will come up in the area, decongested roads and many more internal developments are on the cards, with an extension planning of this metro to the upcoming Navi Mumbai Airport as Line 3.
