The Kharghar Coastal Road spans 6.96 km and consists of three lanes on each side, totaling six lanes. Additionally, it features an interchange over the Sion-Panvel Junction. This project will be an alternative means of access to Nerul, Vashi, and several other areas.
The work is anticipated to be finished by November 2024, subject to final clearances from CRZ and Forest, with an estimated cost of ₹ 205.49 Crores. This transportation project will greatly enhance the connectivity, providing a convenient solution to alleviate the heavy traffic on the heavily congested Sion-Panvel Road. The said Coastal road will start from Belapur Sector 11(Sarovar Vihar), will pass through the backwaters of Belapur-PanvelCreek, and terminate towards Sector 15-16 of Kharghar (Spaghetti-Vastu Vihar road)., with future planning of connecting Belapur jetty and Nerul Water Terminal as a missing link and later link Ulwe Coastal road(Amra Marg) and D.B.Patil International Airport(NMIA).
