The Mumbai Trans Harbor Link Road (MTHL) project aims to reduce congestion in Mumbai by enhancing connectivity between the island city and mainland Navi Mumbai. The project involves the construction of a 22 km long, 6-lane bridge and consists of a marine viaduct stretching approximately 16.5km in length, along with land viaducts on both sides spanning around 5.5km each. In Mumbai, the link offers interchanges at Sewri and Shivaji Nagar, and on the Navi Mumbai side, interchanges are available at SH-54 and at Chirle on NH-348, which will eventually benefit developing Navi Mumbai and Raigad Districts, Saving Fuel and Time for people traveling towards Pune/Konkan, Faster connectivity for Mumbai Suburbs to reach the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).
